So there's all sorts of people here, right? Got all kinds of crazy powers and stuff?

[Rufio is sitting in the center of town on the edge of the fountain, munching on an apple he's just nabbed out of the grocers. (The whole imaginary food thing wasn't working out for him so well out of Neverland.) He wishes the store was manned, in a way. There isn't much of a thrill pilfering food this way.]

Which ones of you don't age?

[Because he's realizing that in this place that list isn't going to include him.]

[Aang has the obligatory moment where he feels like he recognizes the voice, but he does not make the connection.]

I didn't age for a hundred years! But that's because I was frozen. And since then... yeah, I think I'm growing pretty normally.

How did you get yourself frozen in the first place?

It's a long story. ...I had run away from my home and was in a big storm. And... I'm the Avatar, so when I was in danger, I entered this thing called the Avatar State. Basically, I'm more powerful but I'm not myself. So in the Avatar State, I just, froze myself in a giant thing of ice! I guess that's what the Avatar State thought was safest.

I don't really get any of that, but okay. You've got special freezing powers.

Uh... yeah, sure, pretty much.

What else can you do?

I can control all of the elements! Air, water, fire and earth! And I can use them to do all kinds of things, like protecting myself or gliding in the air. It took a lot of work to learn, but they're all really fun!

Was that from before you got here? I've heard about the fairies in this place or whatever.

Right, those powers are from my own world! I have been meaning to meet with the spirits here to learn more about the elements.

Nice to meet you, Rufio! I've known some people who use swords. They're pretty cool, but not for me.

Guess you don't need weapons when you can do all that other stuff you do.

Guess not. I don't really want weapons to begin with. I like to stop enemies without hurting them.

Won't they just come back later, then?

Not always, not if they tire themselves out. Or if I can get them stuck by bending the earth around them or something. There's plenty of options that don't involve beating each other up!

That just makes you sound like a wimp.

I don't care what I sound like, as long as I'm true to the values I've been raised with.

That's something, I guess.

What sort of values are those, anyway?

I was raised by monks. They taught me that all life is sacred, even when they many not seem important or good. Everyone deserves a chance.

And if they use that chance to come back and bite you in the ass?

Get away and try again another time. There was one guy who used to hunt me all over the world and tried to capture me, but I saw good in him and felt like we could be friends. So I had mercy on him. Most of the time he did turn on me. But one day he came to his senses and helped us when we all needed him. We wouldn't have been able to save the world without him, and he... became one of my dearest friends. [He bites back any mention of their recent tension for the time being.]

So you got lucky with him.

He could have just as likely killed you any of those other times.

But my point is he was able to learn and change.

...You're pretty mean. [He tries to put the next thought together.] Do you... kill... people?

Mean? [He laughs.] You really are a wuss.
