So there's all sorts of people here, right? Got all kinds of crazy powers and stuff?

[Rufio is sitting in the center of town on the edge of the fountain, munching on an apple he's just nabbed out of the grocers. (The whole imaginary food thing wasn't working out for him so well out of Neverland.) He wishes the store was manned, in a way. There isn't much of a thrill pilfering food this way.]

[Because he's realizing that in this place that list isn't going to include him.]

Won't they just come back later, then?

Not always, not if they tire themselves out. Or if I can get them stuck by bending the earth around them or something. There's plenty of options that don't involve beating each other up!

That just makes you sound like a wimp.

I don't care what I sound like, as long as I'm true to the values I've been raised with.

What sort of values are those, anyway?

I was raised by monks. They taught me that all life is sacred, even when they many not seem important or good. Everyone deserves a chance.

And if they use that chance to come back and bite you in the ass?

Get away and try again another time. There was one guy who used to hunt me all over the world and tried to capture me, but I saw good in him and felt like we could be friends. So I had mercy on him. Most of the time he did turn on me. But one day he came to his senses and helped us when we all needed him. We wouldn't have been able to save the world without him, and he... became one of my dearest friends. [He bites back any mention of their recent tension for the time being.]

So you got lucky with him.

He could have just as likely killed you any of those other times.

But my point is he was able to learn and change.

...You're pretty mean. [He tries to put the next thought together.] Do you... kill... people?

Mean? [He laughs.] You really are a wuss.

I don't really remember.

[And he shrugs.]

Did something happen to your memory? How do you know that they're... dead, if you don't remember?

Sometimes I remember. I just have to think about it for a while.

Neverland makes it real easy to forget things.

[Aang hopes to switch to a less depressing topic.] Neverland? Is that where you're from?

Best place to be, if you ask me.

Huh. What's it like?

There's indians and pirates - we've fought both, though we get along better with the indians now. Mermaids, fairies,... Everything the perfect adventure needs, really.

[Aang isn't familiar with most of the concepts, but he gets the general idea.]

That sounds like a really nice place! Aside from the bad people. I love going on adventures, especially when the only bad guys aren't really that bad. [He recalls his almost light-hearted sparring with that angry fire prince. Of course, things get much less fun pretty quickly.]

Where's the fun in it of the bad guys aren't actually bad?

They'd still be bad! It... well, it would be the same argument as before. It's fun to deal with bad guys you can outwit without anyone getting hurt. Especially if it's a bad guy who you can make into a friend later. Cause everyone's better as friends, right? When bad guys are too bad, things get... scary.
