So there's all sorts of people here, right? Got all kinds of crazy powers and stuff?

[Rufio is sitting in the center of town on the edge of the fountain, munching on an apple he's just nabbed out of the grocers. (The whole imaginary food thing wasn't working out for him so well out of Neverland.) He wishes the store was manned, in a way. There isn't much of a thrill pilfering food this way.]

Which ones of you don't age?

[Because he's realizing that in this place that list isn't going to include him.]

[He does actually consider leaving it at that, but...]

If it's of that much interest... I'm among the unaging. Not by natural ability or choice.

An experiment.

[There's a word people around here are probably tired of hearing.]

Not because of the Malnosso... this happened in my own world. It's a long story.

You could put it that way... but being locked in time is only one product of those experiments.

[Interesting thing to say, he'd never thought what it would be like to be eternally a child.]

What is the problem with being frozen as an adult?

Is that why you asked about aging? So that you could find a means to remain a child...?

No... but I wonder why anyone would willingly choose eternal life.

After decades and centuries were to pass... I could imagine becoming weary of life. Weary of seeing everything and everyone else fade and die around you... while you remain forever unchanging.

[He has spent far too long thinking about what this, knowing it's going to be his experience in the years ahead.]

All inhabitants of your world are frozen in time...?

[He's been here a while, but that's the first he's come across a world where everyone has that trait.]
thenightmarebegins: (serious business face.)

Do many inhabitants of your world remain children?

Then it's something in the world itself instead of a physical change that prevents your aging?
thenightmarebegins: (look down)

I understand.

Perhaps one day you will return to it.

There's no way of knowing when the Malnosso might choose to send someone away... but it's always possible.

Attempting is futile. Although it's unclear sometimes whether they won't... or can't.

[Some of both, in ways, he's sure there are things they hold back on, but they've also at times proven incapable too.]
